A Safer World?

With the death of Osama bin Laden there is much debate about whether or not the world is a safer place. Some argue that bin Laden's death will help to curb terrorist attacks. Others disagree with the idea that killing bin Laden will mean fewer terrorist attacks.

  1. i also believe that the death of osama is a very good thing and that the world is now a better place. He was a very bad person and took the lives of a lot of innocent people. I hope that since osama is dead i think al qadea will stop being a terrorist group.

  2. I have differing opinions on the death of Osama Bin Laden. Although he was the leader of one of the most crucial events that occurred in history, September 11, 2001. When he flew planes into the twin towers in New York and Pennsylvania. I believe the world will be a better place now because the death of the most wanted and hunted man in the world is no longer living and can not cause any more distress himself. Although, he was the leader of Al Qaeda, the most powerful and dangerous terrorist group around, he still has people working for him. The members of the group can still cause problems to the United States or other countries. The death of their leader may stir up some tension, considering the United States had assassinated Bin Laden. After ten years of hiding, the most wanted man is now dead. I am proud to say us, as a nation have finally met our conquests.

  3. It is, without a doubt, that Osama bin Laden has caused tremendous and irreversible damage to the lives and victims of 9/11, and our economy as well. The natural assumption that one would make is that our fear of terrorism would be over after the death of the leader of Al Qaeda. To an extent, that may be true, but there will be someone else to fill the shoes of Osama, and their response would be retaliation against the U.S. As the article states, Ayman al-Zawahri, Al Qaeda's second in command, was not there at the facility, his whereabouts unknown. Given the current situation and the death of Osama bin Laden, the power and terror that Al Qaeda held over the U.S and surrounding countries has been reduced, giving more control and leverage to the respected countries. Overall it will be difficult to determine a more concrete outcome regarding these recent events for weeks, or maybe months. For the time being, the chance for terrorist attacks are low, but in the long run, there are still terrorists out there determined to retaliate, whether or not they are a part of Al Qaeda.

  4. Ich glaube nicht, dass Amerika sicher ist. Ja, die Tötung von Bin Laden war richtig, weil er ist nicht gut. Ich finde Bin Laden herzlos ist. Ich bin freudig, dass er gestorben ist.

  5. Obama called May 2, 2011 a quote "good day for America" because the death of Osama, I do agree with this statement because it was a huge accomplishment for the U.S. and was a big step in stopping the acts of the Taliban, although we have yet to see how the Taliban will truly react to this event. Osama's death will either make or brake the Taliban. Since Osama was such a powerful person involved in the acts of the Taliban, we can only wonder how they will react.
With Osama dead the world truly is quote "a better place," but i cant say i agree with Obama's other statement that "the world is safer" because of the fact that the Taliban could respond in ways that we are not expecting them to. For example if they got their hands on nuclear missiles they could wipe out parts of the U.S. I feel we need to full take out the terrorists and the Taliban before we start celebrating.
